HP Sauce
(1894, England)

An old British favourite, HP Sauce is 70% of the UK's brown sauce market. HP had humble beginnings at a grocery in the Midlands, and quickly grew. Unfortunately, it also grew out of the creator's hands.

We've attempted to recreate the 'secret recipe' as faithfully as possible, and it's good enough that we're sure it won't be a secret with us for much longer.

Ingredients: (Makes about 330ml)

5 Chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 onion
1/2 sliced lemon
1/8 cup white vinegar
Dashes of salt, allspice, black
pepper, worcestershire sauce,
and hot sauce

  1. With all the ingredients in the saucepan, bring it to a boil. Once it starts to bubble, let simmer for twenty minutes.
  2. Take off the simmer, and put through a sieve, capturing the liquid that comes through in a jar. Wait to cool and serve!
